McFate Partners With Kelleher Construction in Detroit CSX Bid

The McFate Group will be improving the Detroit CSX Transportation Intermodal Terminal in partnership with Kelleher Construction. The project scope will include constructing a new admin building along with related site work. McFate will serve as the General Contractor on the project while Kelleher acts as the Construction Manager and liaison for CSX.

CSX Transportation (CSXT) is one of the nation’s leading rail transportation service providers in the country. CSXT Intermodal provides rail and trucking services, and is one of the largest providers in North America. Both companies are subsidiaries of CSX Corporation.

In March, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) awarded a $5 million Michigan Railroad Enhancement Grant to CSXT for the project. “The City of Detroit is appreciative of CSX and MDOT’s investment in the Detroit Livernois Intermodal Facility in southwest Detroit,” says Sam Krassenstein, Chief of Infrastructure for the City of Detroit. “[The project is] a major step forward toward modernizing this yard, limiting fugitive dust and track-out, and building momentum for further investment in the Detroit Intermodal Freight Terminal.”
