Description
The McFate Group, an Award winning and rapidly growing commercial / industrial design-build firm, is seeking an experienced commercial and industrial Superintendent to become an integral part of our team. The McFate Group, based in Ann Arbor MI, has been servicing customers throughout Michigan and northern Ohio for 20 years. We’re looking for candidates that can be a team player with strong industry knowledge, communication skills, passion, enthusiasm, and the ability to get things done.
The successful applicants will have a proven track record as a commercial / industrial construction superintendent dealing with ground up construction, additions and interior renovations. Experience in the construction of office, retail, restaurants, religious, multi-family, and industrial projects is highly desired. Strong experience in urban ground up construction is a plus. The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:
Responsibilities
• Enforce all safety and quality standards.
• Supervise the daily jobsite activities, work very closely with Project Manager to ensure success and that the work is performed in a safe and organized manner, is in compliance with the drawings and specifications, and is executed by the most efficient means.
• Manage and coordinate the activities of subcontractors and material vendors via planning and scheduling.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and report problems or deficiencies to the Project Manager.
• Manage the quality assurance/quality control program for the project.
• Document all on-site activities with reports and photos.
• Review and manage all construction activities in compliance with project documents including: Shop Drawings, Submittals, and RFI’s.
• Review change order requests with project team.
• Collaborate with architects, owner representatives and local municipalities.
• Ability to complete punch lists in a timely manner.
• Travel required throughout southeast / central Michigan and northern Ohio.
Key Traits
• Construction Management or equivalent degree is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of on-site lead Superintendent experience in the commercial & industrial construction industry.
• Knowledge of all phases of the construction and design processes.
• Ability to work independently and treat safety as a primary focus.
• Ground-up construction experience required.
• Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings is a plus.
• Excellent communication (written, verbal and electronic) skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with emphasis placed on quality.
• Self-motivated and driven to see results.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excels in working in a fast- paced environment and can manage others.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Capable of managing customer expectations while orchestrating sub-contractors and vendors.
• Ability to understand contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and Sage Timberline or similar applications.
• Ability to adhere to the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
